This is a fantastic post—these covers really show how much visual storytelling mattered for pulp magazines, especially in grabbing attention on the newsstand.
I’m doing a bit of market research for a WordPress hosting project—have you had any issues with your current setup (like slow load times for images or general reliability)?
And out of curiosity, has cost ever been a factor, or is it more about performance and ease of use?
sorry, Gavin – just ran across this. there are times when wordpress seems clogged and slow in the late afternoon. I image that is when folks are using it after work. cost has not been a factor. but if there was one thing I’d change about how wordpress works it is the archive. I really miss the way tumblr shows little images of the posts so you can scan back over past posts to see if you’re duplicating.
